Articles- Potato - "Potatoes were first introduced outside the Andes region four centuries ago, and have become an integral part of much of the world's cuisine." - Wikipedia
DiaryToday i harvested the first potatoes of the season. I grew them in a greenhouse but they're still very small, from one plant only 450 grams. So i'll have to wait still a few weeks. I always grow some potato plants in my greenhouse of a species that gives an early harvest. They cannot be kept long but are still much better than the old potatoes of last year.

Also today i discovered
Colorado beetle larvae on some of my potato plants. I've never had this problem before and hope that they won't become a pest. By hand i take off the larvae and i hope i can contain their spread. Far left on the picture there's also a greenfly (i think that's what it is).

Below a picture of potatoes that grow outside. They're of a sturdy species that are not susceptible to
Phytophthora infestans. The blue flowers on the photo is linseed and the yellow one is rape.
