Apparently, these are not individual "fruits" (attributes) from which to pick and choose. Rather, the fruit of the Spirit is one ninefold "fruit" that characterizes all who truly walk in the Holy Spirit." - ("But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." - Galatians 5:22-23, KJV) - Wikipedia

  • Importance of the Old Testament in New Testament Study - "The Holy Spirit in Creation: The Spirit is seen from the beginning as present at creation in Genesis 1.2, “the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters”, like a bird watching over its nest, and then God speaks and the process continues. The Psalmist conjoins these ideas of spirit and word when he describes the creation in these terms - “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all their hosts by the breath (spirit) of His mouth” (Psalm 33.6)." - angelfire.com

[1]
  • Catholicism - "According to Roman Catholic theology the primary work of the Holy Spirit is through the church." [1]
  • Islam - "In Islam, the Created Spirit that acts as an agent of divine action or communication commonly identified with the angel Gabriel is called holy spirit, but also alternatively with the created spirit from God by which he enlivened Adam, and inspired the angels and the prophets. The belief in Trinity is explicitly forbidden by the Qur'an and called a grave sin. The same applies to any idea of the duality of God (Allah)." [1]
  • Jehovah's Witnesses - "Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Holy Spirit is not an actual person but God's power in action, like God's divine "breath" or "energy", that he uses to accomplish his will and purpose..." [1]
  • Judaism - "The term "holy spirit" only occurs three times in the Hebrew Bible. In Judaism, the idea of God as a duality or trinity is heretical. Nonetheless, the term Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is found frequently in Talmudic and Midrashic literature. In some cases it signifies prophetic inspiration, while in others it is used as a hypostatization or a metonym for God." [1]
  • Pentecostalism - "While the Holy Spirit is acknowledged as God in all mainstream denominations, he is given particular emphasis in Pentecostal churches. In those churches he is seen as the giver of natural and supernatural gifts, such as tongues and prophecy, to modern-day Christians." [1]
  • Rastafari movement - "Rastafari ... they generally state that it is Haile Selassie who embodies both God the Father and God the Son, while the Holy (or rather, "Hola") Spirit is to be found within Rasta believers (see 'I and I'), and within every human being." [1]
  • Unification Church - "There are many who have received the revelation that the Holy Spirit is feminine. This is because the Holy Spirit comes as the True Mother or second Eve. Since the Holy Spirit is the feminine aspect of divinity, without first receiving her we cannot go before Jesus as his brides. Being feminine, the Holy Spirit consoles and moves the hearts of people. She cleanses people’s sin, thereby atoning for the sin which Eve committed. Jesus, the masculine Lord, works in heaven (yang), while the Holy Spirit, his feminine counterpart, works on the earth (yin)." [2]
